Noted Christian author and speaker Hal Lindsey says the ‘Last Days’ are here, as Bible prophecies made thousands of years ago seem close to fulfillment.
“The prophets Zechariah, Ezekiel, and Isaiah all prophesy that, in the last days, a reborn nation of Israel will find itself alone and friendless with its back to the sea, surrounded by enemies with no one and nowhere to turn,” Lindsey says in a recent Hal Lindsey Report. “Does this sound familiar?” he asks. “Friends, those days are here.”
As the perils to Israel seem to grow day-by-day, Lindsey sounds the alarm. “Seldom have we seen a nation face — at one moment — so many lethal threats to its very existence,” he notes.
The recent attack on the Israeli embassy in Cairo was one ominous sign. After being incited at a demonstration in Tahrir Square, thousands of Egyptians marched to the Israeli embassy. “Hundreds of them attacked the building, tore down the concrete walls, and breached the consulate. They looted files, trashed the offices, burned the Israeli flag, and came within moments of lynching the six Israeli security guards who remained behind after the entire diplomatic staff and their families were evacuated to Israel,” Lindsey notes.
Lindsey believes the turn in Egypt’s relations with Israel is unmistakable. ” Need we a clearer indication that Egypt’s military leaders will not have the will or courage to defy the Muslim Brotherhood and maintain the 1979 Camp David Accords with Israel?” he asks.
In addition to a hostile enemy on its southern flank, a worldwide political storm gathers against Israel in the United Nations. The Palestinian Authority is asking the U.N. to recognize the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem as the sovereign nation of Palestine — based on the pre-1967 borders. “It’s a slam dunk in the General Assembly since Arab and Muslim nations and their sympathizers hold a voting majority, but a vote in the GA has no legal weight until ratified by the Security Council,” Lindsey notes.
While the Obama administration has indicated it will veto the resolution, Obama also hopes it won’t reach that point. “A US veto will put him in an awkward position since he has promised a state to the Palestinians and assured the Muslim world that if anyone could get it done, it would be him. They believed him and are now publicly and loudly using his own words against him,” according to Lindsey.
He believes Israel will be at great risk if Palestine is recognized in the U.N. “Israel would only be nine miles wide at one critical point. It would mean that from the hills of the West Bank (Palestine) the terrorists can physically see Tel Aviv. That would be child’s play for the rockets and missiles of the terrorists or the national military of the new state,”Lindsey notes.
“Further, Israel would no longer have the recognized right to enter Judea or Samaria (the West Bank) or East Jerusalem to protect Jewish settlers, tourists, or any of the Jewish or Christian holy sites. They could no longer enter those areas or Gaza to destroy missile and rocket launch sites operated by the Palestinians. To do so would be seen as an invasion of sovereign territory and give cause to Palestine’s “allies” to rush to its aid.”
Such a turn of events will only embolden Israel’s sworn enemies. “Revered Israeli statesman, Abba Eban, once referred to those indefensible borders as the “Auschwitz borders” because of the danger they posed to Israel,” Lindsey notes.
Turkey, once considered a friend in the region, has also turned against Israel under the leadership of Prime Minister Erdogan. “Turkey was the second Muslim nation to recognize Israel in 1949 (Iran was the first) and was the only Muslim nation with a formal military alliance with Israel,” Lindsey notes.
But now, Turkey has renounced the alliance, expelled Israel’s ambassador, and recalled its ambassador from Tel Aviv. Further, Erdogan has threatened to send Turkish warships to challenge any Israeli naval presence outside Israel’s 12-mile territorial waters.
” Turkey is furious with Israel for interdicting the “Freedom Flotilla” that it sent to bust the Egyptian-Israeli maritime blockade of Gaza in May of 2010. After the passengers of the Mavi Marmara attempted to lynch the Israeli boarding party, a battle ensued and nine Turkish nationals died,” Lindsey notes.
Lindsey sees another side to Erdogan’s posturing. “Erdogan’s ulterior motive is to restore Turkey to its pre-World War I status as leader of the Islamic world and the dominant power in the Mediterranean and Middle East. He sees himself as the emerging regional strongman. That’s why he’s slowly dismantling Turkey’s secular government and rebuilding Turkey as an Islamic state. He’s touring the Arab and Muslim nations and loudly touting his record of challenging Israel and defying the West. He’s aligning Turkey with Iran and Hamas and insinuating himself into the politics of other nations. Though Turkey is prominent member of NATO, which it joined when Russian Communism was the common enemy, Turkey is increasingly withdrawing from the West now that radical Islam is the common enemy.”
As Israel finds itself increasingly isolated on the world stage, with its back against the wall, surrounded by hostile nations, the prophecies of Zechariah, Ezekiel, and Isaiah all seem closer to fulfillment in these ‘Last Days.’

I can’t believe that people in 2011 still take Hal Lindsey seriously, especially after Harold Camping’s fiasco earlier this year.
Lindsey needs to issue a public apology to all the people he has spooked with his “end times” nonsense since 1970.

the above statement is a perfect example we are near the end. People will say they have been saying it is the end times for years. Its here , all the pieces are falling into place. hal lindsey is right, listen to john hagee as well. get ready christains, He says he will come like a thief in the night.
To the scoffers: What if you’re wrong? If Hal Lindlsy and the rest of us are wrong, then nothing happens. If you are wrong, you may miss the rapture. Think about it, please. Also, please know that you are loved and we are praying for you.
Hal Lindsey’s Pretrib Rapture “Proof”
Is Hal Lindsey’s proof for a pretrib rapture “100 proof” – that is, 100 percent Biblical?
In “The Late Great Planet Earth” (p. 143) Lindsey gives his “chief reason” for pretrib: “If the Rapture took place at the same time as the second coming, there would be no mortals left who would be believers” – that is, no believers still alive who could enter the millennium and repopulate the earth.
We don’t know if Lindsey’s amnesia is voluntary or involuntary, but earlier (p. 54), while focusing on chapters 12 through 14 of Zechariah, Lindsey sees “a remnant of Jews in Jerusalem” who are mortals who will become believing mortals at the second coming and then become repopulating mortals!
During the same discussion of Zech. 12-14 Lindsey overlooks some of the final verses in Zech. 14. They reveal that some of the tribulation survivors “of all the nations which came against Jerusalem” will refuse to go there “to worship the King, the Lord of hosts.” Here’s what will happen to those “heathen” rebels: “upon them shall be no rain.”
So the facts about the repopulating mortals, in unbelieving as well as believing ranks, cancel out Lindsey’s “chief reason” for opposing a joint rapture/second coming – the ONLY rapture view to be found in official theology books and organized churches prior to 1830!

Although Hal Lindsey claims that his “Late Great” didn’t set a date for Christ’s return, many of his followers – including copycats Bill Maupin (“1981”) and Edgar Whisenant (“1988”) – did view Lindsey as a date-setter, and his later book “The 1980s: Countdown to Armageddon” (the sort of title that date-setters and their ga-ga groupies love) became another fizzle – unless we’re still living in the 1980s!
In Old Testament days false prophets were stoned to death. Today they’re just stoned!
