God baby, Creator of the cosmos

Our God.  This… baby.  Our eternal God took the form of a child.  He was there in the beginning, and he took the form of a baby. He

He came like this...
He came like this…

came out of the heavens to bridge the gap between a Holy God and sinful man.

When you look up at the heavens, they say you can see 5,000 stars with the naked eye.  On a clear night in the Sierras, sleeping outdoors, it seems like you can see many more.

But this baby–Jesus.  He was there.  He put those stars in their places.

He was with God in the beginning.  Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.  And His light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.

Piercing the darkness, they say it takes eight minutes for the light coming from the sun to reach us, traveling 93 million miles.  Our sun is just one star in the Milky Way Galaxy.

If you could travel at the speed of light it would take you 27,000 years just to get to the center of our galaxy.

But there are 125 billion galaxies in the universe!  And some of those galaxies are much larger than our own!

Jesus was there.  He was there in the beginning when it was formed.

What kind of child is this…this Jesus?

By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible. (Hebrews 11:3)

In the beginning was the Word...
In the beginning was the Word…

Albert Einstein was surprised to find the universe had a beginning point.  That beginning point was so small, scientists now say the size was 10 to the minus 100 cubic centimeters.  So everything seen in our universe came out of something… invisible.

And from that initial point it expanded in less than a second to something unbelievably gigantic, unimaginable.

When Einstein saw the universe started at a microscopically small point and expanded to this stupendous size he recognized the startling implications — that there must be a superior reasoning power behind all of this.

The more I think about it, the more my head begins to ache.  My brain is trying to grasp it, that Jesus, who came as a baby, was there in the beginning…

Jesus is the Ancient of Days; He stepped out of eternity past; His light shines in the darkness.

The Hubble space telescope has allowed us to look deeper into the universe than ever before.  We can see galaxies far, far away from us.  They tell us each of those galaxies has hundreds of billions of stars.

How far away are they?  Traveling at the speed of light, it would take you 13 billion years to reach those outer galaxies.

In the outermost regions He is there...
In the outermost regions He is there…

He is the Alpha and Omega, this child, born of a virgin, who made a woman cry.

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.  For by him all things were created:  things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, (from atoms and electrons, to stars, galaxies and supernovas) all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.

This baby.  This Christ child.  God with us.
