The mainstream news media continues their fear-mongering campaign about Covid-19 at a renewed and feverish pitch, mostly due to politics — instead of science and data — according to one prominent physician.
“It is being widely reported that there are over 40,000 new cases of Covid-19 yesterday (June 30th),” Dr. Marc Siegel told Tucker Carlson on his July 1st program.
Dr. Siegel is an associate professor of medicine at the NYU Langone Medical Center and a Fox News medical contributor.
“It has been widely reported that the South and the West have been hard hit. It has been widely reported that Texas, Arizona, Florida and California are reversing aspects of their reopening. It has been widely reported that Dr. Tony Fauci says we could see as much as 100,000 new cases a day,” he told Carlson.
Dr. Siegel maintains key facts have been left out of most of the reporting. “As the case counts go up, the death rate remains under 700 per day. Why? Because most of the people getting Covid-19 now are young people,” he notes.
“The CDC just released a statistic that again was not reported, that of the last 15,000 deaths from Covid-19, only 3.9% were under the age of 44 years old – the same group that is now spreading it in Miami or Austin or Phoenix. That group has mild cases!” he explains.
While the hospitalization rate is going up, there is a simple reason that is not being stated. “It has not been reported that it is not mostly Covid-19. It is actually the cases that were there because of the re-opening. They are now getting the elective surgeries they need: cancer operations, heart operations, hernia operations.
“They are filling the hospitals. Covid-19 is actually getting in the way of that because Covid cases require isolation,” he says.
Dr. Siegel believes the shutdowns had many adverse consequences. “Our young people are bursting the bonds of all this because of the excessive lock-downs. They are rebelling and it is not good public health because of how depressed and anxious they are because of being locked down,” Dr. Siegel observes.
“Why is the whole story not being reported as I am trying to do? The answer is one word: POLITICS! I am here to cut through the politics and bring you the science,” he says.
