Danna Weiss grew up a reformed Jew and became a New Age expert involved with crystals, yoga and meditation.
“When I was nine, we went to Israel for my brother’s Bar Mitzvah,” she recounted on a Jews for Jesus video. “At the (Western) Wall, which is one of my favorite places, I felt the presence of God and I remember as a nine-year-old not really knowing what I was feeling and saying to someone, ‘what’s going on here?’”
A Bar Mitzvah (for boys) – celebrated at age 13, or Bat Mitzvah (for girls) –at 12 or 13, mark a Jewish child’s coming of age, meaning they become religiously responsible for following the Jewish commandments.
Though Danna felt the presence of God in her walk with Judaism, she didn’t find the full spiritual experience she desired.

“God was nothing more than a presence and that to me just wasn’t enough,” Danna said.
So, she turned to other spiritual sources such as yoga and crystals, and she was always seeking more and more.
“Basically, the new age mentality is that you’re doing it wrong. You’ve done something wrong. You weren’t positive enough, you were almost positive enough but just not positive enough to get what you wanted,” she said, “I chased this carrot in front of my nose 24-7.”
Danna would get invited to teach at New Age events and what she realized is that the people inside the events were also lost and confused.
“I found that the people in the inside ring were also seeking, and I thought, ‘this is so crazy, why are the people seeking and seeking like they haven’t found it yet?’”
In her New Age explorations, she unknowingly opened herself up to the demonic world, battling spiritual powers and principalities that haunted her. Once she got choked by a spirit in the middle of the night. Lights in her house cryptically turned on and off. Objects seemed to move around her house in mysterious ways.
“It got really gory,” she says.
For two years, she searched desperately for freedom from the attacks. Somebody suggested Jesus, which she felt was taboo. Ironically, New Agers are open to anything and everything except the Jesus of Christianity.
But she was desperate, so one day she decided to visit the Brooklyn Tabernacle church, a mega church. All she wanted was something that gave her peace and direction.
When the church’s 250-person choir sang, she realized that God is more powerful than any other spirit she experienced in the New Age movement. “I saw the energy of God,” she says. “I saw the highest vibration I ever saw in my life, and I had no idea what I was seeing.”
After the service Danna ran up to two men to ask them for help.
They asked her,’ Have you accepted Jesus in your heart?’”
She had no idea what they were talking about, and they explained that when one accepted Jesus into their heart they received protection from Jesus.
“I said to him, ‘okay let’s give it a shot,’ because to me in my mind, I was like, ‘ if this doesn’t work, I’ll garbage it and I’ll find something else.’” Danna said.
With faith as small as a mustard seed she surrendered to Jesus as her Lord and Savior.
“He came into my heart and things flew out of me. I had no idea that things could live inside of you, and when things came out of me that peace and that wholeness that I had been seeking throughout every gateway New Age drug was finally found.”
Later, she founded Reformed New Agers, a group of New Agers who have given their heart to Jesus.
