Mike Huckabee, Trump’s proposed ambassador to Israel and a man of strong faith, says Israel’s war is spiritual.

“The conflicts in the Middle East are not really geopolitical, economic or social but rather spiritual,” he said on his TBN show. “After Oct. 7 and the horrific antisemitic attacks on our Jewish friends, I am more determined than ever to stand with Israel and the Jewish people.”

Huckabee was the governor of Arkansas in 1996 to 2007. He ran unsuccessfully for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008 and in 2016.

He was working at home with his dogs by his side when a call came into his phone from an unknown number. For some reason, he felt like he should answer it, even though almost all such calls from unknown numbers are spam.

It’s a good thing he answered. It was President Trump.

“I want you to be the ambassador to Israel,” Trump told him. “You know the people and you know the Middle East. I want you to be there.”

Huckabee answered the call of service to country. But he’s going to be different than previous ambassadors and diplomats who merely analyze political and economic issues or dictate policy from a worldview such as neo-socialism.

He’ll stand with Israel, he says. He’ll bring prayer to the ambassadorship.

“I take seriously Genesis 12 where God says he will bless those who bless Israel and will curse those who curse Israel,” he says.

“Ultimately the conflict in the Middle East is a spiritual conflict,” he says. “Only a spiritual solution will solve it… It is not the will of God to be anti-Israel.”
