A California father, Adam Vena, is enmeshed in a protracted legal battle with his ex-wife to protect his son from gender ideology.
After feeding the 6-year-old notions that he is a girl, the wife has obtained a five-year restraining order against Vena, who objected to the social transitioning she was subjecting the child to. Vena lost complete custody of the child.
“There’s no way to defeat them because they have their mind set that my son is girl,” he told Newsmax. “They stripped me of all my parental rights at the very beginning because I was not gender affirming.”
Vena says his son never had “an inkling” that he was girl. But as he and his wife had a falling out, the mother started dressing their son in dresses and referring to Aidan as “Luna” and using the pronouns “she/her,” as reported by Catholic News Agency.
Vena says a court-ordered evaluation determined the toddler was curious but not gender-dysphoric, though he was not allowed to sit down with a psychologist.
“Boys don’t wear dresses,” Vena texted when his ex-wife sent a picture of the boy in a dress. His response via text was part of the court’s determination to issue the restraining order. Vena hasn’t seen his son for four years.
“My personal beliefs and my First Amendment rights were squashed, because I didn’t want my three-year-old son to wear a dress,” Vena told the Sacramento Bee. “This is crazy. The parent who wants to change the child’s perfect body is abusive.”
His stand against gender ideology got him labeled “abusive” by the court.
“I don’t want my son on medications,” he continued. “We have so many detransitioners that talk about the irreversible damage that these medications do to the child, even at a time where the brain isn’t even fully developed yet.”
“The crazy thing is that we’re at this point,” Vena said. “With a country like ours, we’re at a point where we’re having to go to the Supreme Court to protect children’s body parts, liberty, [and] mental [health].”
