In the assassination attempt on President Trump Saturday, a Christian father and former fire chief sprung to his feet and shielded his daughters from the flying bullets. Corey Comperatore was killed after diving over his wife and kids.
He literally took a bullet for his family.
“Corey died a hero. Corey dove on his family to protect them at this rally,” said Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro. “Corey was the very best of us. May his memory be a blessing.”
Corey attended church regularly. The 50-year-old retired from Chief at the Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Department. He was a “dad girl,” family said. The Pittsburg man also was reportedly a project and tooling engineer at JSP.
Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, clambered up to the roof of a building and fired at Donald Trump at a campaign rally Saturday. The ex president was grazed on his upper right ear before he ducked. Secret service snipers quickly pinpointed the shooter and killed him.
“The hatred for one man took the life of the one man we loved the most,” says Corey’s sister, Dawn Comperatore Schafer. “Hatred has no limits and love has no bounds. Pray for my sister-in-law, nieces, my mother, sister, me, and his nieces and nephews as this feels like a terrible nightmare but we know it is our painful reality.”
Corey’s daughter, Allyson, spilled her emotion on a Facebook post: “What was supposed to be an exciting day that we had all looked forward to (ESPECIALLY my dad), turned into the most traumatizing experiences someone could imagine.”
