By Mark Ellis –
Pat Robertson, the influential founder of CBN and Regent University, stirred controversy recently with the assertion that God directed Vladimir Putin to invade Ukraine as part of a larger prophetic plan unfolding in fulfillment of Ezekiel 38, which will result in many nations coming together to attack Israel in the final days before Jesus’ return.
“For years, the Russians have wanted to get out of the Sea of Azov into the Black Sea and enter into the Mediterranean,” Robertson, 91, stated in a return visit to The 700 Club February 28th.
Robertson sees a future alignment between Russia and Turkey. “Ukraine is key because they have a land bridge between Russia and Turkey…and those nations are going to be lined up.”
The president of Russia’s mental state has been a source of concern for many, including Robertson. “Now all the troops there are going to be coming against Israel in the latter days. Is Putin insane? Well, yes and no, because he is being driven to move against Israel, because God said I’m going to put hooks in your jaws and I’m going to bring you down on them.”(Israel)
Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Son of man, set your face toward Gog of the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him, and say, ‘This is what the Lord [a]God says: “Behold, I am against you, Gog, chief prince of Meshech and Tubal. So I will turn you around and put hooks into your jaws, and I will bring you out, and all your army, horses and horsemen, all of them magnificently dressed, a great contingent with shield and buckler, all of them wielding swords; Persia, Cush, and Put with them, all of them with buckler and helmet; Gomer with all its troops; Beth-togarmah from the remote parts of the north with all its troops—many peoples with you. (Ezekiel 38:1-6)
“I think you can say, well, Putin is out of his mind, yes, maybe so. But at the same time, he’s being compelled by God. He went into the Ukraine. But that wasn’t his goal. His goal was to move against Israel, ultimately, and he will link up with Turkey, across the Dardanelles, in that little bridge, and they will come together.”
Many nations will be mobilized against Israel in the latter days, but God will fight on their behalf. “God says, I am going to deal with it. So, you can look at your map, you can read your newspapers, you can listen to your news, but know of a fact that God is bringing to pass what he prophesied years ago through his servant Ezekiel, and you read it in the 38th passage (chapter) of Ezekiel one through six, it’s all there and God is getting ready to do something amazing.”
Robertson believes Putin is setting up Ukraine as a staging ground for his army, which will then link up with Erdogan’s army in Turkey. “Is Putin crazy? Is he mad? Well, perhaps, but God says I’m going to put hooks in your jaws. I’m going to draw you into this battle, whether you like it or not. And he’s being compelled. After the move into the Ukraine, he’s being compelled to move again, to get a land bridge and then across the Dardanelles with Turkey and watch what’s going to happen next. You read your Bible because it’s coming to pass.”

Pat Robertson doesn’t have a clue as to who the people In Ezekiel 38 really are. They are certainly not Russia.
So you say without a shred of history, scripture, or insight to back up your self righteous statement?
I respectfully disagree with Mr. Roberstson’s assessment of the situation. Its only his opinion.
If God is setting this up, then why should we pray to stop the evil that is happening to Ukraine???
Why would God allow the innocent people, especially children, to be killed unmercifully there?
I think we should still pray for the Ukrainian people.
What Putin is doing has been certainly egged on by NATO, and all the west’s, (Specifically the US), broken promises to Ukraine. So there’s plenty of evil to go around. Having just read Ezekiel again, it does seem like the end-time scenario is getting closer. Haha, Unless you’re one of those, “it’s all allegory,” Christians.
Agree with Dennis Peterson. It’s time Pat Retired. He’s is old school thinking and outdated. He hasn’t kept up as The Holy Spirit reveals new understandings.
