Dr. Willie Parker is an abortionist in Mississippi and Alabama, where there are fewer and fewer clinics open to the controversial practice. He says he is driven by his deep Christian faith to conduct his work, killing the unborn in the womb.
“I believe that as an abortion provider, I am doing God’s work,” Parker writes in his new memoir, Life’s Work: A Moral Argument for Choice. “I am protecting women’s rights, their human right to decide their futures for themselves, and to live their lives as they see fit.”
Recently he visited California to accept a Person of the Year award from the Women’s Reproductive Rights Assistance Project (WRRAP), according to a report in the L.A. Times.
Parker was abandoned by his father and grew up poor in Birmingham, Ala. At 15, a coach who also happened to be a Pentecostal pastor led him to the Lord.
He was the first one in his family to attend college. Parker was a bold witness there, carrying his Bible throughout the dorm, spreading the Good News, according to The Times.
When he first became an OB-GYN, he refused to perform abortions due to his faith, but sent women to other doctors who would perform the procedure.
His thinking changed, however, after he read the parable of the Good Samaritan and arrived at this unorthodox application: “For the Samaritan, the person in need was a fallen traveler. For me, it was a pregnant woman. It became not: Is it right for me, as a Christian, to perform abortions? But rather, is it right for me, as a Christian to refuse to do them? Now I saw, without doubt, fear or ambivalence, that it was appropriate, even ethical for me to provide this care,” he noted in his book.
From that point on, his thinking about abortion changed dramatically and he began to perform abortions himself.
Parker compares “forcing” a woman to bear a child to slavery. “I know it’s a powerful analogy to draw, and people are skittish,” he told The Times, “but if you look at what was evil about slavery and what happens to women when they are forced to give birth, it’s apt. When we make fetuses ‘people’ and demand that women be subordinated in servitude to them … women become a means to an end. It’s no different from slavery.”
Parker’s slavery analogy is so lacking in logic that it really departs from a Christian world view. I would suggest that the “still small voice” that he is listening to is not that of the Holy Spirit, but rather Satan.
I agree. He commits murder every time he engages in what he does. He is a disgrace.
In performing abortions Dr. Parker is arrogating to himself the right to decide what human life should go forward if it is allowed into the world. God’s love can and has overcome any obstacle to a difficult upbringing. Many arms in the United States long to hold their own baby. This Christian is making serious error and a mistake fatal to his soul. He will have to justify every life his prevented before God..
What confounded thinking! He ignores the 6th commandment, Thou shall not murder, and somehow thinks that God approves of his bloody deeds! He obviously has not studied/understood the scriptures.
His statement “When we make foetuses people”… seems like he believes God has nothing to do with us until we are born and out of the womb. Sir, please re-read Psalm 139.
