I never heard the name Jesus. My life was full of sorrows and problems. I was an alcoholic and a drug addict. I couldn’t stay away from it. I would constantly fight with people around me. My family was disappointed in me. Nobody liked me. I tried to kill myself several times.
One day my family saw the JESUS Film. They committed their lives to Jesus. But I told my family that I wanted to die. I didn’t like my life. They asked me to try Jesus once and assured me I would be delivered.
One time my wife fasted for me for 40 days and 40 nights. She would pray for me consistently but I would snatch the Bible away from her.
One day I agreed to watch the JESUS Film. I saw that Jesus was being beaten and persecuted. I started to weep.
I said, “Lord, deliver me. I believe that you have been resurrected and now you’re in heaven.”
I started praying daily. Then a pastor came to pray for me.
I shared about my life. Then he encouraged me and assured me I would be delivered. And he asked me to trust in Jesus. So I did.
The following Sunday I went to church and testified. I said, “I was once a drug addict and an alcoholic. I have been delivered. I will only believe in Jesus Christ. He is my Lord and Savior and there is none like Him.
In 2010 I studied in a Bible college for two years. I returned to start ministry in my village. I have been ministering for four years now. I served two years independently. Now I serve with the Church of the Nazarene. I now have a church in my village. About 40-50 people attend my church regularly.
The youth in this village were alcoholics and drug addicts. They didn’t know anything about Jesus Christ. I shared the gospel and assured them they would find peace in Jesus. So they started believing in Jesus Christ and they started attending the church.
When I accepted Jesus Christ, all my relatives were disappointed in me. I told them, “Accepting Jesus does not change your religion, it changes your life.”
When I started my ministry many people opposed and asked me to stop. They attacked me, my family, and my house. They harassed me but I was not afraid because the church was there to support me.
They explained to the protesters that we were not forced into accepting Christ.
Even to this day, people trouble me and mock me. But I focus on the Lord and pray for them.
Jesus has given me new life, new people, and a new identity.
This is my testimony. Initially I wanted to die, but now, “For me to live is Christ and to die is gain.” Philippians 1:21
