Suri Cruise

Suri Cruise will attend a Catholic school in New York City following the high profile break up between her parents Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. It has been reported that Suri was enrolled in the Catholic school just days after her mother reached a divorce settlement with Tom Cruise.

The move has come as more rumors speculate that Katie Holmes did not want her daughter growing up to be a Scientologist, the controversial sect followed devoutly by Suri’s father Tom Cruise.

Suri was previously homeschooled, but will now attend Manhattan’s prestigious “Convent of the Sacred Heart” school, where reportedly she will have to attend a Catholic mass once a week every Thursday.

The school is one of the most prestigious in New York City and will cost Katie Holmes $38,000 a year to send six year old Suri there. However, the actress is of course well off herself, and reports have further suggested that Tom Cruise will be paying more than $10 million in child support as part of their divorce settlement.

Katie moved to divorce Tom just last month when he was away filming his new movie in Iceland. She moved out of the apartment and made the filing for divorce in New York City. The news is said to have shocked Tom Cruise, who was not expecting the split, but it now appears as though Katie was planning everything for weeks and even months in advance.

Katie Holmes and Suri have moved out of the family home in New York and into a $12,500 a month apartment in New York City’s Chelsea area.

Holmes was married to Cruise for five years, and since their split she has been reported by the Huffington Post as having registered as a parishioner with the Catholic Church of St. Francis Xavier in New York City. However, an official with the church said Tuesday that the report was false.

Seeking to verify the report, The Christian Post contacted St. Francis Xavier Church Tuesday morning and was told by Parish Manager Jacqueline Salco that Holmes was not listed in the church registry. Salco indicated over the phone that she had looked through the registry, and responded in the affirmative when asked if The Huffington Post report was false.

However, although St. Francis Xavier Church has denied having Katie Holmes as a new member, it is not uncommon for churches to attempt to maintain a certain level of privacy for particularly high-profile parishioners. — Daniel Blake, contributor to The Christian Post

  1. You can take the Catholic out of the church, but you’ll never take the church out of the Catholic. Good for you, Ms. Holmes! Welcome home!

    • Hazel E.-BEAUTIFULLY PUT-My sentiments exactly! The Lord certainly does move in mysterious ways, huh? Thank-You Jesus that Katie is trying to raise Suri properly.

  2. Is it true that Tom Cruise was once a Catholic seminary student? If so, hopefully he’ll come home one day as well.

    • yes, Tom went to an OFM Franciscan seminary for high school in Ohio, but later left “because I like women too much.” The seminary has since closed.

  3. many years ago when Katie left the Catholic faith I remember how her parents wer so upset. I read this somewhere. I thought about how I would feel if my children left the Catholic faith and got involved with Scientology. I prayed for her. I was always a big fan of hers growing up with Dawson’t creek. My prayers were answered. Katie, welcome back and God Bless you

  4. In bringing your little girl back to the TRUE and ONLY Lord and Savior you have gone a long way to preserving her salvation and yours. Well done.

  5. My heart sank when I first heard Katie Holmes left her Catholic Faith
It’s very difficult to hear that people will walk away from the Core of our wonderful Catholic Church, “The Eucharist” Hopefully, she will embrace her coming Home and give her little Suri the full benefits of the Sacraments
Maybe her decisions will influence Tom Cruise to come back to the True Church of Christ

  6. We only have two choices, Katie took the path less traveled that leads to an eternity of love with Our Father and families. Let’s pray she stays the course.
I just don’t understand why people would chose the easier path leading to eternal damnation with Satan and his cohorts to torture us for all eternity???

  7. I’m just so happy for Katie and Suri and it reminds me that I too was praying for them in a way “unbeknownst to me” every time I prayed for those who arw looking for love in the wrong places and more directly for those who have walked away from the catholic church. Prayer is so cool! and is answered EVERY TIME in ways “unbeknowst to us” very often. Thank you God!

  8. God is so happy and so are we! We are the Body of Christ!!! We will keep
both of you in our prayers!!!

  9. Lady Gaga also attended the Convent of the Sacred Heart school for girls…. Katie’s new parish, St Francis Xavier, is known in the area as the “gay-friendly church”….. i wonder how Catholic these institutions actually are….

  10. Having worked for over twenty years for the Church in a Rectory, I can tell you there is no way any Catholic Rectory would verify if a particular person was a member; especially someone high profile. My parish has a high-profile baseball player from our team and there is no way if you called and asked that they would tell anyone he is registered. Everyone is entitled to that privacy in a parish.

  11. Wouldn’t it be something if Cruise left Scientology for Catholocism so that he could be with his family again? Keep praying for him Katie!
