One ABWE facebook friend will join a team of volunteers this summer in Africa.
ABWE is sending a Facebook friend on a free missions trip to Togo, West Africa, from August 2-18, 2012.
The idea came about when several employees were discussing how they would have loved to be more involved in missions, especially in college when they had more flexibility with their time. It was the cost, however, that they found often kept them from going.
“We’ve all been on the mission field since then, and it’s changed our lives, our perspectives, and our faith-journey. What if we could give that experience to someone who might not otherwise be able to afford it, or have the courage to go?” Leah Farr, ABWE Director of Strategic Communications, said.
The conversation resulted in an idea to support someone on a journey to the mission field for a two-week volunteer trip.
“As we follow this person’s journey, we hope to share it with others who have connected with the idea on our website and social media sites. We hope they’ll see someone, perhaps just like them, being used by God for His amazing purposes,” Farr said. “We’ve been praying that others will be challenged to consider how God might be calling them to missions and His service — here or abroad, short-term or in their lifetime.”
